Cat owners - anyone have wood blinds? Are they better then plastic or aluminum? I'm wanting to replace my old aluminum blinds because they are fairly beaten. I think the woods rose to more cats, but my fiance says they are more expensive (I already knew) and do not take no more .... Who is right? lol
I had some light wood blinds off a cat while trying to go to look out the window. I went with wood blinds since heavier. The miniblinds are ok, but they do bend and stay bent.
Home Depot stores that I used ready for rental. You can get the wood cut to order while you wait, then remove the extra blades when you install them. They are very inexpensive and heavier and Nice. I think they were only $ 75 for a window wide enough.
It can be installed as far forward as possible in the window. In this way, there is no edge for a cat to jump on the least that is what you want.
They also come with clips to attach the strings. These things are really dangerous in cats.
I have wood blinds and yes, my cats do not mess with them.
I have a blind wood and aluminum remains. showed the benefits of the mine's time when a fly was caught between the blind and the window, and when I was assembling aluminum blinds in my room again. She had a fine old time to fold the ends and bar biting extra I had removed. (Luckily it did not do it on the window blinds!), I guess those of wood will resist better if yours, as if trying to integrate them to see what's happening outside!
Wood would better resist, but recently I went with pleated blinds without pull cords and my cat does not bother them. If the cords are the problem, it will probably work.
Basic rule. If it moves a cat will play with her. That's what cath the eye. Whatever your use, if you attach it to the window at the top and bottom, they are not likely to have an interest Yot them. But cats chew and then whatever you use is subject to extremes have chewed. I tried everything. I now have internal shutters on the lower half of the window. Who keeps on .. but it's also terribly expensive.
I imagine they would be better, more chewy and tecture may or may not like. My cats love wicker, so I'm not sure of a wooden blind would be different. However, I kind of plastic and I've never had a problem with them. In the rare case that my cats have never bothered them was because they were closed and they wanted to see something outside, and they stick their heads cast strips. Otherwise, I've never had a problem.
Try to buy only wood blind and put it in the window the most used and see if they bother. This way, you're not spending tons of money if they bother, but you know how they react.
