sunscreen or solar tinted windows? My electricity bill is out of control and I would try to lower it. What is the best sun visor or tinted windows? And also, I lack energy efficient dual pane Windows. Would it even a big help since I have these windows? My bill was about $ 260 for June and my house is 1300sq/ft and we keep the a / c approximately 79-83 degrees. I know there must be a bigger problem than elsewhere, but I thought starting with windows. It is too hot to be crawling in my attic now inspect all ducts.
We use sunscreen because the window tint changes the color of what is seen through the window. In addition, one of the reasons sunscreens work is that it keeps the light out of the window, which contributes to the lower temperature of glass. BTW, we live in TX and get plenty of summer sun and heat.
For dual pane windows, they did not recommend the color because it can cause too much accumulation of heat and gases inside the windows pops the seal and they start to fog up.
We have dual pane windows and solar screens on them. They work very well in keeping heat blasting through the windows down. We also keep the blinds closed during the day. And be sure your coolant alternating its enuf to work effectively if the freon or whatever your system uses a leak, you can run the AC all day and the air not cool enuf to reach the temperature of thermostat.
But one of the best things you can do is make sure your attic has proper insulation and your eaves soffit enuf has vents to allow heat to dissipate from the attic during the day.
I think you should choose sunscreen. Recently, I red an article on energy (and money!) Savings through sunscreens and I remember that they can reduce the inside temperature of 5-7 ° C, which means less work for your air conditioner!
Try reading this article, along Arquata Usa redirect you site very good and blinds solar panel maker: it is based in Texas but I think he also dealers in Phoenix (but you should check on the http://www. arquatiusa.com)
