Thermal Window Coverings

Posted on May 12, 2010.
Thermal Window CoveringsSuggestions for window coverings in "kids' rooms?

Currently, we have cheap mini blinds from which we moved last year. Looking to replace the children's rooms, especially as we lose a lot to hear from the windows in winter. I think thermal roman shades for both chambers, but not positive. My kids are 1 and 2 years and I was steering away from curtains that can be pulled down.

All ideas and suggestions as to what is nice in a child's room? Both rooms are painted in bright colors rather (one blue, one green) with white trim and carpet, I was thinking white for window treatments, too.

I have white curtains and lots of light comes through ... your children are likely to start anyway, but for a nap or sick-days sleeping and such, it can prevent them to rest more easily. I like your idea for thermal roman shades. they are too expensive for me right now, but I have. idea that I can think of is curtain rod with a thick black curtain. If you're worried about them pulling it off you can fix it on the stem during the day until you trust them in the curtains?

Most coatings thermal type actually look pretty hideous. You can always get a sort of internal thermal assembly, then make an outdoor installation of curtain fabric. Curtains for children's rooms are really fun because you can easily make yourself from a wide range of novelty fabrics - there's something there for every child ...
