What can I use instead of expensive room darkening curtains? I have 2 large windows in my girls' room. We have blinds and curtains in place, but too much light comes in. The windows are both 52 'wide, blackout curtains so that they are too expensive.
Like any little girl, she wants the curtains princess and they are not very thick
roller blinds work well. They darken a room and they roll up tight to the window, so if you hang your curtains normal, you can not see them.
They do not cost much either.
Get her a nice frilly curtains to go under darkening panels. If you get on stocks they are not all that expensive. Then, you can kiss on the side of each window to keep the filling in the back room and let in the light if needed. Urban Outfitters has some really nice:
Or if you have a fabric store near you, they can have cotton velvet on clearance. Velveteen is usually dense and blocks the light and without the line. You can cut the fabric to the length you need is the hem iron on hem tape and because they are cotton velvet, you'll usually be able to machine wash. You can either use the tape to form a rod pocket or use the clip, curtain rings
put black felt behind the curtains, if it does not work put another layer of black felt, if the curtains black look when you then try a little pink felt in front of her, the worst case is a band led worst window
If you can sew curtains rod you will save big on it. I would do first, then blinds curtains and you'll get lots of obfuscation, but perhaps not the same amount as the dyed black.
Hmmmm, go to a store that sells equipment at low prices and buy materials black sewing curtains princess of dark matter,
