Pot HooksHow to make your own kitchen pot rack

Let's face it, we all need more space in our kitchens! One of the easiest ways to free up cabinet space is by hanging a pot rack from the ceiling to store all your bulky pots and pans. pot racks run more than $ 150, even in discount stores online! Here's an easy way to make a sturdy pot rack for your kitchen for under $ 15. Photos of this project can be found at http://www.decoratingyoursmallspace.com/how_to_make_pot_rack.html

Supplies

pressure untreated 2x4
Drill
3 inch wood screws
Length of chain form the home improvement store
Screw Hooks
Paint or stain

Cut two pieces of wood to length pot rack, and two in the desired width. If you're hooked on a counter or island, making it slightly smaller than the counter.

Using your drill, screw the four pieces in a square or a rectangle.

Now, measure the full width of the chassis from the inside to inside. It is the measure of the cross "beams" Remember, measure twice, cut once! I recommend at least three cross beams for strength. Screw the ties at the side at regular intervals.

Add screw hooks to each corner on top of the grid.

Paint or stain as desired.

Finding studs in your ceiling, screw hooks screw in four heavy about coordination with the screw hooks in the top of the grid pot.

Add the string, and hang! If there are no cons below the pot rack, be sure to hang it high enough to prevent bumped heads! You can add as many screw hooks to the rack pot as you want to store all your pots and pans, lids and store, baskets and bowls on top. Or, you can simply stack your pots on the top surface, as I do.

You can add the decoration to the rest of your pot rack by adding fabric tubes to cover the chain, silk or dried flowers or hang braids of garlic or strings of peppers. I soaked a grapevine wreath inexpensive overnight in water, then cut off and wrapped it around the grid. I added a few sprays of silk flowers, spring. The flowers can be changed with the seasons.

Almost as simple as making a box, it looks great and adds tons of storage space in the kitchen!
