Porch Lights

Posted on May 5, 2010.
Porch Lightsporch lights?

Most people turn their porch light every night or not. Should I leave mine on just because it is dark?

A well lit outside a home is always a deterrent to thieves or marauders then I leave mine overnight, but some people prefer that the motion be those activated to save money.

We do not have a porch, so to speak, but portholes on each side of the main entrance and a light post. The light turns on automatically when it's after dark, but I would have sidelights and the chandelier foyer on the night because it shows the house so well. We put them out when we go to bed.

It is all yours. I have lights on both sides of my garage door, they come in timer turns off the night and morning, I have a light that comes on the track when he feels that someone is approaching and I light through the door before I turn to when we expect to host. I think it makes them feel welcome. But what you burn is totally up to you. Remember to use the new energy efficient light bulbs.
Think Green.

Leave all night because it is just safer, but buy a fluorescent lamp (spelling?) Energy saving bulb.

It's a good idea to leave the light on a
deterrence of crime, better use of
a low power fluorescent bulb.
Better still have a flood light motion detector, which can be
adjusted for sensitivity
so that the cats do not turn off.

If you live in the city I leave the light on especially if you have crime at all.
It also helps if your distance and that people think of your home. If you leave them on when you're gone "pro" the criminals know and rupture, but if you make a habit of leaving all the time, they are less likely to try.
If you do not have neighbors or live away from people, then I would not leave them on.

Today, we use more light on the steps of movement, when you approach the light illuminates. It keeps the bad guys and saves electricity. Do you let your light when you close the fridge door?

I turned on me when I am waiting for someone to visit. If I turn it on before answering the door to be sure I know that people ring the bell or knocking.

Personally, I think people should turn their porch lights for a reason and that being not only because he is black.
For a visitor or if you do something outside.
It would just be wasting energy if you had it on all night for frogs or darkness.

I mean really ..!

we always leave our lights on front and back porch 24 / 7. They are motion sensitive so that they come on quite bright if someone comes to the door and are extremely low if there is no activity outside. when its dark and if someone is at the door of her easier to see the light and if they are off in the morning, we had forgotten to restart the night.
cost of operations lo-watt bulbs effective is minimal, so that we do not worry about this aspect and we are energy efficient in many other areas! Besides there is no street lighting in our area what-so-ever and no porch lights, it is so dark you can not even tell if you have your eyes open or closed! lol

I do not want if you're actually waiting for someone or if you leave the house, so when you return from your sidewalk / porch is lit when you return.
