Plastic Shutters

Posted on June 7, 2010.
Plastic ShuttersPainting plastic parts, do I use the aerosol expensive for plastic?

I have 12 parts to paint, but what I have to use the spray can paint thats for plastic? they do not have my color.

needed as a plastic filler primer Kilzer keep the pain off. You can spray or brush on, but it is essential! If you are a light color on white black finish is ok, but you can also do that the first colored layer of your paint color. Use only exterior paint. They will last a long time if you use this method.

There is a product called ReNu trigger (www.shutterrenu.com) that will bring the color of faded shutters. We have used our components before selling our house and it was easy to apply and looks great. Report Abuse

Spray light coats is most interesting, even

Most water-based paints exterior adheres well they are cleaned properly and you can get it tinted any color you like then. It appears that you have a massive job before you make of them 12, I would seriously consider sending them to a store and spray them thoroughly water them for you as quite a big job you have there especially make 2 layers, thats the eqivilant paint 24 of them once and think they'll do a good job with a gun too.

You do not have to use spray paint. If you decide to paint the shutters plastic as I did it once before you have to paint them probably twice to get an even coat, because the plastic does not absorb paint that good. I used exterior paint to do mine. I bought the plastic components prior to Home Depot (Dark Green Ones) and painted the color brown. I have two sawhorses so I can put them together and paint them that way, you have a better chance to get every speck between grids and thus appears to be complete, it is left to dry for about two hours before apply the second coat (if necessary, but recommended). Do not scrape against components of other objects, because it might scrape a little paint, if it happens, go ahead and hang your window and touch the places and dry. Its use some time but the time and effort definetely worth it.
