The airsoft classical term is used to describe all items airsoft that were produced before the advent of modern electric gun (AEG). The term is questionable, the general consensus is that for an airsoft gun to be a "classic" it must have been made before 1995, but there are exceptions. For example, many gas guns recently companies like Tanaka and Digicon are often called classical, despite many of them were made after 1995. Owning a classic piece Airsoft is considered a status symbol among the airsoft community.
The origins of airsoft
Despite the misconceptions that airsoft home much later, it was first practiced in the late 1970s, under the concept of realistic weapons that shot non-lethal projectiles for sports and simulation. There were weapons of this style airsoft before, like Mattel "Shootin Shell" weapons of the late 1950s. The U.S. military has even tinkered with ideas of this kind after the Second World War. The BB guns that existed before metal BB gun that could do much damage to a person and in rare cases, kill them. Mattel guns were a novelty at best, though.
Airsoft fill a void. It originated in Japan, where owning real weapons was generally illegal. The first toy manufacturers have been undertaken long as Masudaya, Fujimi, and Matsushiro. These companies have decided that it would be a good (and profitable) idea to market BB guns that could be safely fired at others in a manner similar to paintball guns, which were also becoming popular in time. These guns were to resort to arms at once and were often very crude in nature. Many of the munitions used odd owners, such as 7 mm "Long Range" Ammunition Masudaya guns used, or ammunition soft rubber used in weapons to the mark. Finally, we realized that a standard waist BB would be cheaper and more efficient to produce. There were a variety of companies that make firearms during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Daisy enters the fray
Daisy The company was known for over a century that the first producer of BB guns in the United States. Thus, in the early 80s, they decided to airsoft market in North America. Until then, airsoft was virtually unknown outside of Japan. Daisy contracted Maruzen Company of Japan to make a line-powered spring guns to sell to the United States. Most of these weapons existed in Japan, which essentially re-packaged for sale in North America. These BB guns used in ad hoc sockets simulated. The line includes:
