Led Tape

I bought one of those homemedics soothing sounds of water fountains, and its great and I love it, its got three LED lights on it to make glow water, that looks great, but one of them shining in the right eye and its super light, is it safe to cover the light with a piece of electrical tape? or could it gt hot and catch fire? Im thinking it should be safe, but there never knows.

I do it all the time for the annoying little LED indicator. They do not heat so there is really no problem.
