Hanging Drapes

When you use a hanger rod for hanging curtains or other window coverings, it is more appropriate to ensure that stations on the edge of the window (45x54 window covering and shall not exceed 54?) Or is it may use a more covering?

I do not think it matters anyway. It is a matter of preference. I like mine to hang to the floor personally.
