Drapery TrimHow a Designer Specialty Valance from a single panel draperies

Here we will talk about how to create a specialty valance.

A specialty skirt looks like a roman shade that has been raised two thirds of the climb. It is a very popular style these days and generally costs more than $ 200 for a tailor.

However, using a simple panel curtains rod pocket, you can create your own custom look specialty valance in about 15 minutes.

Let's take a look step by step how to create this fabulous designer window dressing!

1. When purchasing a drapery panel for this project, you will need to take a number of things into consideration.

Firstly, the width of most panels are about 46 "- 52"; make sure that this will be sufficient width for your window.

This style of valance is usually better with windows that are 40 "wide or less. However, if you have multiple windows aligned in a row to create a sinlge long wall of windows you can use a single panel from a window to create implementing the treatment.

The second thing you need to take account of the length. For medium-sized windows, we like to use 84 panels in length. For shorter windows, 63 "panels are working well, and for larger windows, you must use 96" - 120 "signs.

2. You will also need to create the two compensation loops that hold up the skirt.

We recommend a flat braid of at least 2 inches wide. Your selection can help trim your valance look more elegant or more casual, so choose your plate based on the style you want to reach.

3. You need to determine how long you want your skirt to hang.

Cache block generally at least 16 "long. Valance specialty hangs usually at least 22" because the style needs more display look its best.

In deciding what length is best for your windows, first determine where you want the rod to be mounted. If you want to maximize the opening of the window, turn your machine closer to the ceiling and the skirt is barely cover the top of the window.

Then, decide where you want the skirt to hang from the stem. This will give you the final length of the skirt. Most of the time, it will be at least 22 "and up to 48". The lengths of more than look great when used with Windows on two floors.

4. Now you make your loops using the plate.

Now you will cut your trim in lengths twice as long as you want your finished skirt plus 2 ". You'll make a loop and use the two extra" to attach the ends of the lining and for sealing loop. Be very careful that the two loops are exactly the same length, that even small differences are noticeable in this treatment.

5. Ask your board on a flat surface and a fan once down.

In general, we recommend you use the floor to secure the panel. Then from the bottom panel, fold the hem under about 4-5 ". Now fold the front panel the same width as the first fold. Continue folding and less, similar to how you bend a paper fan. Continue folding until your group is the length of the loop.

6. Drag loops on each side of trim panel folded.

As you drag the loop in place, be sure to keep your pleats. Keep the background as he is once again flat loop, and each successive throw on others.

7. Now, slide the valance on the rod and hang in the window.

Now that the skirt is suspended, you can adjust the folds, the location of the loop and the drapery rod. Move the loops so they are about one quarter of the way from the outside. This will give you about 50% of the hanging of treatment.
