Drapery Hardware Brackets

Posted on May 18, 2010.
Drapery Hardware BracketsAdding blackout lining behind existing curtains?

Our house came with 15 feet of perfectly acceptable Unlined Pinch-pleated drapes in the living room, covering four windows facing south. The curtains have been designed to simply respond to the window gaps and be attached to each side of each window, rather than operating on a tie rod, so there is no overlap of fabric (which exist if the master carriers / slides were being used).

I have blackout lining fabric with thermal lining, so we can watch TV in the room during the day, and as a last resort just added to the rear of the existing curtains hanging on back of sliding drapery. I just organized the blackout lining behind to block all light and overlapping.

However, I still can not operate the curtains, and I want to replace the existing equipment so that I can.

My problem:

I can not sew blackout lining on the curtains, because then there would be no overlap of blocking light. If I tried to ride the curtains, they are too short to cover the scope of Windows.

I just want to buy a rod double crosses, and put the socket on the rear rod and draperies on the rod before, but that project into the room at least 5 1 / 2 inches, causing the curtains to be on top the heating vents. I would use the magnetic field of the air-forwarders, but the curtains are on the floor.

Ideally, I would buy two ordinary rods, and mount one behind the other, but I can not find hooks that allow me to adjust the back (lining) to the stem, 1 ½ to 2 has a bit of the wall and to a standard 3 ½.

Ideas?

In fact, you can sew, just make a flap that comes and buttons or Velcro to the curtain other, to overlap, which can be folded and hidden when not in use.

Is it possible to bring down the curtain on a rod inside the window frame? Perhaps a kind of Roman shade thing. This may solve your ventilation problems of heat clearance. The mini-blinds in a dark color may also work.
